Atomic Pitching

Have you read Atomic Habits by James Clear?
Sure it’s about changing habits but his “4 Laws” of Habit Change work as shorthands for a great pitch, too. Makes sense: Both are about changing minds to direct behavior.
And both can seem fairly impossible to do when you’re in the middle of them.
HOW THE FOUR LAWS MAKE BETTER PITCHES & BRAND STORIES:
1. Make it obvious.
Never make the audience do work to figure out the point. Ever.
Direct all attention and create zero distraction.
2. Make it attractive.
We’re not talking great looking slides - but yeah, those, too.
A great pitch is a dopamine hit as well as a good argument.
3. Make it easy.
Did you front-load your story with the things they actually care about?
4. Make it satisfying.
Will the time with you feel well spent?
Great pitches leave you a little smarter, a little more inspired or with a slightly more open mind. Minimally, they need to have good feelings about what you’re doing.
My habits are not exactly at Atomic Status these days (2020 vibes) but these laws can be more easily applied to pitch and brand story-telling than running or meditation.
